I'm useing a 867 G4 with 256 Ram and a 60 Gig Hard drive.I just got done recording just one song with LE for OS9 using 10 tracks an I had to keep shutting off plug-ins and all that fun stuff just to keep it from crashing. I just purchased the LE 6.0 upgrade For OSX. From what I read it looks like I have to get more RAM but I'm a little confussed about the Hard drive issue. Can I use say another internal Hard Drive or should I get an External one. or will say 1 gig of Ram be better.
what do you think and what are you using. thanks for your help pop-cycle@cox.net |

You will need a dedicated audio drive, so an external firewire drive would be great. Also, you need a minimum of 384meg of RAM for PT6, (512 Recommended)
Take a look at Digidesigns compatability stuff on this website

to date, Ive been lucky with my Internal System HD (60GB), even though I have a 120GB IDE Internal as backup for video/3d work.
Im running a PowerMac G4-933 with 768RAM. Ive got up too 15 tracks without plug in problems. I dont use a lot of plugs but so far it hasnt stopped me from using as many as I need. RAM is a must when running applications. HD space in this case is almost top of the list. BTW, I dont fill up my System drive, and I dont use a lot of Extensions under OS9x. |
