HD Omni + Dangerous AD+ Protools setup problem

Hi I recently purchased a Dangerous Convert AD+ and hooked it into my old HD Omni to the AES. HD Omni out 5 and 6 into Dangerous AD+ analog 1 and 2, then Dangerous AD+ out 1 AES to HD Omni AES In. Then I do an Insert on the Master bus in Protools. I am not sure if I am doing the right connection but everytime I insert the Dangerous AD+ in the insert in Protools it gains +6db and I start hearing noises. Please help thanks.

What are you actually trying to do? Just throwing the AD+ in an insert does not seem to make much sense. Are you testing it because of some other problem?

You hear noises... but what exact noises? If clicks or pops or stuttering it will be clocking... the omni needs to clock from the AD+ Signal or you need to get Word Clock from the Omni to the AD+.

Not sure how much 6dB level difference is worth worrying about. It will be explainable by different level calibrations or something else you are doing. The AD+ has level calibration adjustments on its front panel, have you started there? Or the Omni output trim settings? If this really matters to you you should follow though all this conversion and what exactly the analog signal levels are. Maybe with a signal gen sine wave output and a multimeter.
