Default MC Control makes pro tools unexpectedly quit.

So. No matter what version of PT I'm using, no matter what version of Eucon I'm using, using my MC Control to adjust EQIII unexpectly quits PT. This has not been like this before. I recently reinstalled OSX to 10.6.8, and it's been like this since. So. I tried to reinstall MacOS, but to no avail. Same thing.

Thing is. If I'm adjusting EQ on places with no audio, bus or track, it's fine. But if I'm adjusting EQIII where there is audio, even on a bus that keeps getting audio, it quits. Weird or what?

My gear:

Mac Pro1.1
OSX 10.6.8
003 Rack
PT 10.3.7
Eucon 3.0
Euphonix MC Control, up to date firmware.

Happens to me too.

I think it is the eq3 and back to top on the control

What I do is save open the eq 3 click on the mixer window on the 2nd screen and save again. Then I do back to top
Seems to work like that without crashing.

I'm not sure what you're trying to explain here. Could you be more detailed? I'm having a hard time understanding your steps. I don't know what "back to top" means..

Thanks :)

To me anyway, it seems like it has something to do with the preview. Every time I "preview" automation, it freezes and forceclosing. It's very annoying since most of my automation is EQing dialogue on film. Previewing and writing to selection is what I do most. I've never come across this problem before, it just started when I reinstalled MacOS 10.6.8. Bummer...

I don't know if this is a PT bug, or a Eucon bug, but I've tried both PT10.2 to 10.3.7 and Eucon 2 to 3.0. Same problem. Which is weird since it never happened before. It might be some library files hiding somewhere in Eucon or PT though, I don't know..

Any ideas?

By the way, if I understood you correctly, it doesn't work for me... :/

only thing that happens now is that the crash is delayed.

1. I save
2. I open EQIII
3. I click on the mixer. I don't know what you mean byt on 'the 2nd screen'. I only have one monitor.
4. I click on the back to top.
5. I click on the EQ button on the MC_Control
6. I do my stuff, usually with the preview button activated.
7. I write to selection.
8. I save.
9. It takes a couple of seconds and PT crashes.

The error-report is filled up with eucon2.dylib kernel panic errors.
It is pretty weird, since I've never encountered this before, before reinstalling MacOSX. I'm now trying eucon 2.7.1, but it's the same. And yes, I've trashed all preferences and other files that the uninstaller doesn't get rid of...

Same [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep].

GOD DAMN iT!

Anyone know where I can file a bug-report? Will it even help?

Someone from Euphonix here?

actually this is what I do.
but it sounds like yours is slightly different from mine. I crash after hitting back to top from the control.

open the eq3 from the control.
preview, tweak, and write.
close the eq3 window with the mouse
i click on the mixer to focus on something else.
save
click back to top on the control.

it is definitely a problem with the eq3 and eucon. Dump the eq3 and use the channel strip. much better eq anyway and it maps better to the control.

the only other thing i would suggest is mouse it with the eq3

Well.. So today I caved in and installed Lion again(this problem was on Snow Leopard). Problem I had with Lion was that PT didn't find any plugins. But I gave it another try.

Well, guess what. Now both the plugins are ok, and so is the EQIII. Dunno why...

Well, the digital world is pretty crazy...
