When using the stereo dithered mixer…?
I have the stereo dithered mixer installed in my plug ins folder. Should I or should I not use a dithering plug in on my master fader for 24 bit to 16 bit bounce to disks? What about 16 bit to 16 bit bounce to disks? The manual says yes when mixing to 24 or 16 bits, but never mentions what to do if one has the stereo dithered mixer installed in there plug ins folder. I can’t seem to land the answer in the DUC archives either.
Thanks a bunch, -Mick Mac 933 / 750 RAM / OS 9.2.2 / HD3 / two 192’s / Digi FW drives / PT v.5.3.1r2 |

Re: When using the stereo dithered mixer…?
isn't the stereo dithered mixer for the 48 to 24.
I know you still need to dither from 24 to 16 (use the POW-r). And as for 16 to 16, I dither there as well, especially if I'm processing it again, in which even though it's a 16 bit session, I believe the processing is still the 48bit (24) fixed point. The PT manual talks about dithering even in a 16 bit session.

Bump for Digi. What do you have to say on this matter?
