When did Avid start selling perpetual licenses again?

I guess I've on the road too long and haven't kept up with the goings on at Avid.

I was looking to restart my subscription for my Studio license, and saw that several retailers are selling perpetual licenses for the Studio software again.

Is this a limited time only deal? Or have they come back for good?

Are we sure it ever went away? Retailers have been able to clear existing stock all along.

It went away at Sweetwater for sure.

Now they and Thomann, and Audiodeluxe are all selling new perpetual licenses for Protools Studio.

You can keep dreamin' guys, but there is absolutely no sign of perpetual licenses for sale at Avid.com. I say they are gone forever. But it was only this summer they stopped, right? So the resellers are selling old stock, I'd say.

Ben is right. Avid stopped selling Perpetual Licenses and Avid Resellers have stock left. Avid has started selling Reinstatements for Perpetual Licenses though. Be sure you are seeing Perpetual Licenses and not Reinstatements.

In the UK, Amazon have Pro Tools perpetual for £536.

Note - both of these are the old graphics and in the case of the basic version don’t have the word “studio”, so that makes me think these are indeed just old stocks still lying around. They would be updated to current versions on registration, so could be a good buy for some while it lasts. I couldn’t find regular Pro Tools (Studio) at Sweetwater, only an academic version.

(Fun typo - I typed Pro Tools as Pro Tolls. Why has nobody called it that before?!)

It's one of those limited time deals that seem to keep appearing from time to time
