Re: The best time stretching app..
The best outside Serato's whalloping price tag is iZotope Radius. That's in either Adobe Audition or iZotope RX.

Re: The best time stretching app..
I was surprised to read this 2006 iZotope press release…
“X-Form is a high-quality AudioSuite plug-in that delivers professional time stretching and formant-correct pitch shifting with professional results for music production, sound design, and post production. X-Form is based on the iZotope Radius time-stretching and pitch shifting algorithms.” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Re: The best time stretching app..
If you want Pitch n Time at a cheaper price, the le version is the same high quality engine, as far as I understand. You can only perform one task at a time, whereas the Pro performs several in the same pass.

Re: The best time stretching app..
XForm processes like it's using a 2006 processor.
Kind of hard to believe PnT is still the best after all this time but that's probably why they can command the price.

There is no question the price is high, but I have never regretted paying it.

I seem to remember discussion here that you can't set parameters of X-Form when using it in TCE mode, which is why it doesn't get a good reputation as whatever settings it uses aren't very good for general purpose use. I tried IRCAM's pitch shifting (among many others) and it's very good at small changes, but anything above a couple of semitones and its markedly worse than Radius. Amazing that after all this time, Radius is still competitive - only Serato beats it, and that's old too.

I mean, I run my sessions at 96k standard just so whatever pitch or time stretching I do the algorithms will have more data to work with to produce better quality transformations. You just pretty much reinforced what I think I understood about the process. |

Re: The best time stretching app..
The original "gold" Waves plug-ins seem incredibly underestimated today. Waves contracted with the top DSP developers in the world which is probably a lot of why they were so expensive.
