Default Control 24 vs alternatives

So, how do we like the control 24 compared to, say, the Mackie Hui, or on the other end of the spectrum, the Pro Control. I'm also seriously considering purchasing one of these babies and would like to hear your thougts on this matter.

Thanks, TC

In addition to the 16 mic preamps that you get with C24, I'd say the major difference/advantage among other controllers is its communication protocol. While others use MIDI, C24 (like ProControl) uses Ethernet. Therefore, communication is faster and much more reliable (meters are much more accurate than other control surfaces). If you are already using a lot of MIDI in your sessions, the increased overhead of a control surface like a HUI might have negative affects on MIDI performance.

Wanted to revive this thread - anything new? I'm looking for something similar, but would work with my existing system.

Steve, probably would have been better to start a new thread
When this thread was stared the C24 was short hand for the Control 24 a now dead product.
You have 2 basic options:
1) 3rd party MIDI based 8 bit HUI protocol
2) Avid's Ethernet 10 bit protocol, with EUCON devices (Artist and S6) being the current/future or the ICON (D-Command/D-Control now discontinued) and the current C24 controllers that have 64 bit drivers for 11 onward. If you're going to stay on 10 for a long time you can look at the older Pro Control or Command 24 but 10 is the last version they will work with
