Re: Pro Tools 2021?
I just caught the tail end of punch cards. I started programming in ForTran77 back in the day but still had to clean out the card punch confetti in the data center and tear off print jobs off the line printers. Good times.

Re: Pro Tools 2021?
It seems that there is some correlation between folks that worked on early computers and people now working in audio. There is just something satisfying about sitting in front of of a control surface and a glowing screen I guess.

Re: Pro Tools 2021.3 released
The Mac thing... if you buy a new Mac “today”, it’s going to come with the latest OS, and you can’t revert to an older OS than the machine shipped with.
I have always been led to believe that Pro Audio Windows users tend to “roll their own” and have greater control over which OS is installed. So it seems that Mac OS updates end up taking precedence for that reason. I, myself, am stuck in a limbo for getting a new machine as all of the devs heave along to some new sort of interoperability. Mac thing now and few years to come is the Apple Silicon transition. It will take until only support is for Apple Silicon that things are great again

Pro Tools 2021.3 released
A Mac with Catalina can go back to Mojave if the original OS the Mac in question shipped with when it was first released was Mojave. So if the Mac came out when Mojave was the current OS but was still a current model on sale when Catalina was released and thus when buying it had it installed, then yes it can be rolled back.
It’s really not that hard to grasp but it seems to confuse so many people for some reason. Easiest thing to do is to grab the app MacTracker and it gives you all the info including original shipping OS for every machine. Available as a Mac app and also an iOS app. Also, the OS has to be down to the point revision. For example, if it shipped with 10.14.3, you can’t install 10.14.2. It’s just driver related. The drivers for the hardware in the machine won’t be baked into the OS so it won’t run. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Pro Tools 2021.3 released
Yes, that's what I'd said -- it depends on what the computer shipped with. But it does take some research, albeit not much, to find out which OS initially came on your machine. Even that is more work than most want to do, and I don't blame them. In general, people just want things to work and rolling back an OS is a hassle, and it feels like you're instantly tainting a brand new machine.
