Default Pro Tools Aggregate I/O

Hello, folk,

I have the DIGI 002 connected and, in the play back engine menu, I have four options:- DIGI 0002, built in output, built in input and Pro Tools Aggregate I/O.

I understand all but number four. There seems to be no operational difference between number one and number four.

Any ideas?

your "fourth" option refers to PT9's ability to allow the user to set up an aggregate device (made up of any the available core audio devices you choose.) Your digi rack cannot be used in the aggregate device set up, so unless you have a 3rd party core audio interface, you pt aggregate I/O would be made up of any of the built in mac I/O.

Sorry, you lost me there...sounds like this allows me to set up a group out somehow and output to multiple places at once with the aggregate I/O. How far off am I?

Thanks

.... but using third party CoreAudio interfaces, you're saying ....

Interesting! DIGI-AVID is opening the options up!

Not just a group out, but allows you to combine interfaces up to the allotted 32 I/O. This is an OSX feature that PT9 takes advantage of.

As mentioned before, it is not supported with the 002/003 family, or any HD hardware.

My problem is that my prior 003 I/O settings have defaulted to the Aggregate I/O and I can't seem to change them back. I hit default but it doesn't give me active 003 I/O (ie 4 x stereo analoge INs, etc).

Ant suggestions?

Try the first group of instructions in Kbase 381131 and choose the 003 as your playback engine.

When I installed PT9 I found my fasttrack pro doing odd things so I switched over to the pt aggregate in the IO settings and things were less odd, but working better.
Then I discovered that PT 9 had installed the eleven rack driver in the system preferences. After deleting that things went back to normal.
Clumsy, but it worked out for me...

Is there anyway of disabling the Aggregate I/O default. I find I have to do a work around every time I open PT9 using my 003R. Basically PT9 defaults to Aggregate I/0 each time and I have to hold down 'N' when booting, select 003, etc. This does not always work mind you...

How can I have the default I/O as the 003 as it was with PT8LE?

Cheers

yea go into the audio prefs for osx then select Protools Aggregate and delete it. If you want it back jus create a new one.

Oh yea and make sure that the 003 isnt selected as the default audio device for osx. If it is Protools will always choose something else.
