Mac Upgrade

Hi all. I'm looking to purchase a MacPro , but before i do so , I'm looking for a lil feedback as to what to get exactly: Quad or 8 Core ? Is PT/rtas really utilizing ALL the processors if I get say a 2x2.8Ghz quad? or am I just as well off with say...a 2x2.66Ghz dual , loaded with ram? it would come up to about the same price.....
I'm running PT 7.4 LE w/OSX 10.5.4 BUT will eventually upgrade to HD1

I appreciate any feedback.thanx!
