Default iPod?

Can you use an iPod in firewire disk mode as an audio drive? Has anyone tried this?

Yes, but DON'T. The heat of the constant disk access will fry it. Playing MP3's and playing multitrack sessions are COMPLETELY different animals. Now you can copy your session to the iPod, nd then copy it to another computer and use the iPod as a portable hard disk for transfers, but those that used the iPod as a audio drive have fried it pretty quick.

I've had two clients come with their sessions on an iPod, and we had no problems running and recording to them for hours. I know another who's been using another mac audio app. w/iPod and has had no problems.

Hope this is helpful.

don't fry your iPod.

Besides - if you can afford one of those, you can afford a real harddrive anyways. Otherwise, it's an expensive gamble.

ipod = 4200 rpm. ok for mastering sessions. You're asking for it for anything more... I jusy copy clinet sessions from ipod to my system, work on them, and copy them back when i'm done. Why risk it?
