Help me make ADAT Interface Work....PLEASE
I recently got an old ADAT interface, but I can't make it work. What hardware WILL work for sure with this box? Does it have to be Nubus? What version of PT? What DAE? Help, I'm getting no help from Digi on this. Thanks.

Re: Help me make ADAT Interface Work....PLEASE
Ok, I've got mine working but it took a while (there are so many things to be certain work).
My system is : Mac 7100/66 OS7.6.1 a newertech G3 upgrade. the digi hardware is 888,882,882 using 2 disk i/os and a bridge i/o with 3 dsp farms , scii tdm and nuverb all in a digi expansion chassis. MIDI interface is a Studio4 and, of course, I'm using OMS. Using ProTools 4.01 Here's the deal : You need to ensure that the ADAT interface is between the first disk i/o and your first digi interface, it must be connected to your MIDI interface and in OMS it needs to be listed as a device. make sure the two serial control cables to the ADAT (I'm using an ADAT XT) are connected as well as the two optical cables. you're going to need the ADAT DAE extension - it's free and available from the DIGI website. Hope this gets you off to a start - it will work...eventually.

Re: Help me make ADAT Interface Work....PLEASE
Do you have to use the 9pin to make the interface work? I actually want to connect a 001 to it, so all I need is the optical I/O ...but so far all I get when I arm a track on my PTIII PCI 882 system with the ADAT interface attached is pegged meters. Does the ADAT interface lock to the optical clock, or something coming down the 9pin? Right now I have optical coming in to the ADAT interface, and superclock out of that going to my 882. The interface cabling goes from the Disk I/O to the ADAT IF to the 882. This should work, unless it's looking for clock on the 9pin, in which case I'm SOL I suppose.

Re: Help me make ADAT Interface Work....PLEASE
evandaum,
You will not be able to use the ADAT I/O in conjunction with the Digi001. You must have closed loops for all connections: 9Pin, Optical and Slave Clock in order for this box to work. In this scenario, the ADAT Bridge interface is your only option (assuming your hardware supports it). Brent |
