Default Tranzport Wireless Controller

Guys,
I know there has been a post about the Frontierdesign Tranzport wireless DAW controller previously. But after all I have benefited from lurking in this forum, I feel an obligation to "give back" by plugging this product.

This product works exactly as advertised and An unexpected bonus is that the tranzport can sit on the desk in the control room, giving me a nice transport section of a controller.

I Love this thing!!!

I belive that it uses RF instead of IR so it should work through walls at a relatively sane distance. If I recall correctly you should be able to get about 30 - 40 feet away from the base depending on the amount of obstructions in it's path. My only concern would be interference from cordless phones and other remote control devices. It probably uses some sort of frequency hopping like most newer cordless phones do to minimize that problem though. I think the battery life was something like 50 - 100 hours of use depending on the backlighting. I would invest in a good set of Lithium or NiCad batteries and a recharger if I bought one. Looks like a good product from the reviews I have read.

A friend of mine is using his cell phone with a program called PC control.
I think it is thru bluetooth.
I will check that out and post what I learn here.

Hey all,

Doug, I felt a similar obligation to praise this product on the Frontier Design site -- it really is fantastic!

The range is pretty darn good. My studio is in my basement, and I can take the Tranzport upstairs with me into the living room -- and still control PT!

The battery life is impressive. I've used my Tranzport a bunch of times now, each time for a couple hours, and the battery indicator is still *full*. (I don't use any backlighting, though)

It really is probably the best $200 I've spend for my home recording setup. Hope this helps!

Brian

I just bought one of these. Install was as easy as it gets and this thing is incredible!

It is literally the best 189.00 I have ever spent on anything audio related. I am stunned that it was so cheap and GC. I would buy it if it was 399.00!!

Get one now!

For those of us who still have to click play 3 or more times before it actually starts playing/recording, will the Tranzport have the same problem?
