Default G3 Upgrade for 7100

I have a PM 7100/80, with a Digi 12 slot Expansion, running 7.6.1, PT 4.0.1, 882 Studio Interface and also running SV Pro 3.5.1 I am interested in upgrading to a G3 and was looking for the most stable hardware upgrade. I hear the Newer Technology upgrade is best? Is there a G4 out yet? Any suggestions? Thanks,

I'm using a very similar setup. Mine is a 7100/66. I also have an ADAT i/o, 888, 882,882 , SCII TDM and Nuverb (not currently working).
The G3 upgrade from newertech installed and worked just fine.
I have read occassionally that newertech may or may not be still in business.

Hope that helps

THINK AGAIN... I guess the reason why you want to upgrade it is that you have some NuBus audio card/s. That would be the only viable reason, and I still think it's a bad idea.. You should look at the costs to replace your system with something much newer, if you upgrade your 7100, it will be another added cost to a system that wont last much longer anyway.. Try to figure out if you can exchange or sell the gear in your 7100 (or keep it for something else) and have a look at either a 6 PCI-slot 9500 or 9600 with a G3 upgrade, or get the Apple entry level G4. (you get a lot of bang for the buck with that particular machine) (However, avoid the beige G3's, I've had 3 different beige G3's, and they've been very troublesome, both upgrade-wise and crash-wise.)

Good luck!

We are using a 9600 w/a NewerTech G3 upgrade, and it works wonderfully.I do belive NewerTechnology is still in business(at least 3 months ago they were)
