Automation EQ3 7-Band automation
Very simple: a certain passage of an accustic baroque instrument needs a very quick EQ adjustment around 3.7 kHz. No problem with the 7-Band EQ, but: I want to fade "enable" in automation in and out. Now with Pro Tools 10 "enable" pops in and out, it doesn't fade gradually.
This is a classical recording, so it needs to be very subtle. I tried using input level or output level for the same thing, but that semms to be working in a different way from way I expect. I am confused, because this was very easy with Garage band and seems to be impossible with Pro Tools? Any help very welcome, it is needed! |

Re: Automation EQ3 7-Band automation
automate the gain/level of the eq band. From 0 to plus or minus and then back to 0. Don't automate enable. Leave that enabled. Enabled with the gain/level knob at 0 does nothing (which is what you want when it isn't supposed to be working)

Re: Automation EQ3 7-Band automation
EQ3 7-band is very transparent.
You can have the EQ insert enabled the whole time. No gain, no cut, no effect to signal should be expected. Then, as BScout mentions, "automate the gain/level of the band". If for some reason you just didn't want the EQ running 100% of the time, you can combine the band gain automation (where you get the fade) and ALSO earlier and later turn the EQ on and off.

Re: Automation EQ3 7-Band automation
if you have Ultimate you might also want to try using clip EQ,
I use it all the time for quick adjustments |

Re: Automation EQ3 7-Band automation
I automate EQ and other plug-ins all the time using touch mode on a playback pass.
