Default nightmare error in Pro Tools LE

I unplugged my firewire drive at one point tonight. Pro Tools was shut down. I Plugged it back in and opened the session I was working on. So, at first it was telling me that I could not autosave sessions due to an assertions error in "CNeolOBlock.cpp" line 164. Then I tried doing some recording. It started doing VERY strange things. At first when I would record something and then stop it would say "Could Not Complete Your Request due to an assertion in "CNeolOBlock.cpp" line 164". Then when I would hit play pro tools would not let me stop it from playing without either shutting the session down or force quitting pro tools. And often when I shut the session down it crashes pro tools. I have no idea what's going on with this or what to do, but it's driving me insane. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. I've restarted and rebooted everything multiple times, cleared space on my hard drive and even tried to import the session data into a new session and I get the same thing. I'm trying my backup now to see if it makes any difference.

- Shut down Pro Tools.

- Delete the Digidesign Database folders on all your hard drives. Don't worry, they're temp folders and can be safely deleted.

- Empty the trash and try again.

Those folders are annoying...they will attach themselves to all sorts of files. I have burned photo files to a CD in Toast only to find a Digidesign Databases folder on the CD.......really annoying.

Why? Why do they show up all over the place and can anything be done to stop that? This seems like something that Digi should do something about. Are they even necessary since deleting them does nothing to anything?

dont burn discs while pro tools is open. ;-)

they are database files.... protools will recreate them on the top level of each drive in your system (they are on all my network drives too) each time it opens. sometimes they get corrupted and cause strange errors, so you delete them and next time PT opens it rebuilds them, which makes the error go away.

they really arent that big of a deal.
