Default ProTools 2018.4 to current
Hi,

I'm currently running 2018.4 perpetual.

How do I go about upgrading to the latest version perpetual licence?

The only options in my account are to subscriptions and I'm not interested in a subscription based licence.

I assume you have not paid the yearly renewals of the so-called 'support and update plan' - that you let it expire. This means Avid will not let you update, the only options you have are subscription or buy a new perpetual license. I think it's as simple as that. Think of it what you will.

Thanks for the info.

It's a shame Avid doesn't simply allow a reinstatement of the upgrade/support plan as they used to.

Very disappointing.

Yes it is true, Avid stopped selling reinstatements long ago. With luck you may still find a code from a reseller, but once those run out they are not coming back. Avid's answer is to cross-grade your perpetual license to a subscription.

Seems unreasonable to my mind.

Oh well, I'll stick with my current version. I would've happily paid the $999 to reinstate.

They published the info way back in 2019, that January 1st 2020 and later they will not sell reinstatements. Since that resellers were selling new old stock. Avid however said that whoever buys the code will be able to use the code no matter if immediately or later. Sorry to hear you have been out of the loop, good luck finding a reseller that still has one.

Thanks for the info, that's quite promising!

I just checked specs and it seems my computer... a 5,1 from 2010 is a little old and not supported....

Any thoughts?
