Default Sync Session Tempo With Audio Track

New to PT. I have an audio track and I'm wanting to find the tempo of the track to sync up with the session tempo. What's the best way to go about this? Thanks.

What kind of audio track? Does it contain transients?

Hi,

To extract the tempo map of a certain audio track and sync or align to grid, try my method:

Record a click track(via instrument track) by playing along with the tempo of the target audio(your instrumental track) in quarter note interval. Once you've recorded your midi track, listen to your recorded midi notes if it's in sync with your audio and if some of the notes are slightly out-of-time, correct it by sliding your note either forward of backward in-time until you've achieve a perfect feel of your midi click with your audio track. You must have a good rhythmic ear to inorder to spot the out-of-time clicks. After you've perfected your midi click track, render the midi click to audio(mono will be OK). With the rendered audio click track, select your audio click track and activate beat detective. Under Selection/Contains: select 1/4 Note and click on the Capture Selection. Once you've set the Analysis, Sensitivity and Resolution, click on the Analyze. After that, Click on the Generate and tempo will be mapped. Kindly refer to the graphic below. There you go. Hope this is helpful.

This method is specially helpful if you have an audio track that has a lot of tempo changes and does not contains any rhythmic instruments(e.g. drums, etc.)

Enjoy. Thanks..
