Default Scuffham Amps S-Gear

Anyone tried this bad boy?

I think it knocks the socks off both Guitar Rig and Amplitube put together... big time.

great tones, great features (although, not that many, which IMHO is a good thing)

It rocks and is AAX64.

Check it out if you haven't already, and the price?... well you can't argue with that!

Great plugin, kills Amplitube IMHO. I had a JMP-1 back in the day which Mike Scuffham had a big part to play in the design of. I still miss the old JMP-1 sometimes. I do like the Scuffham S-Gear better though, great sounds and covers a lot of territory. I've got the redwirez cab IR collection which is very easy to use with their proconvolver. I also like that it functions as a standalone, easy to pull it up for noodling/practice.

Only $99 too.

I've never heard anything that even competes, especially when considering the Wayfarer amp which is my favorite of the group.

I've been using S-Gear and BX Rockrack which I grabbed during a Plugin Alliance sale. Both excellent, feel like real amps and sound great. Between those two there isn't any ground I can't cover convincingly.

I often learn a lot from reading threads on the DUC .
I feel happy and sad that I saw this thread ....,

Happy ....,

Because I learnt about Scuffham X-Gear which I'd never heard of before..., So I downloaded the trial version , and withing half an hour of playing through the presets I stoked enough that I made the purchase.

Sad ....,

because I had previously invested so much time and cash in Amplitube 3 with all its extra packs etc, that after using the Scuffham X-Gear I'm thinking my Ampitube 3 may now just gather cobwebs

The sounds in the Scuffham just seem to openly breath so much more , and the harmonics and tone , and nuances in velocity of your playing are just so much more apparent in the X-Gear than what can be achieved with Amplitube. Even without tweaking many of the presets the sound was great , and I especially love the blues and country settings in many of those presets that had me grinning.

My Amplitube may still get used occasionally for a few amps here and there, but itll likely just get used now in pro tools for a few odd stomp boxes here and there -which Amplitube has a great deal of and X-Gear does not.
