Headphone Mix For Vocalist
I am trying to set up a headphone mix for a vocalist, without altering the sound of the mix which will be bounced. I don't know if i'm doing this correctly though.
When I plug the vocal microphone in unaffected and record I can hear the voice too much. So I have gone to options at the top of the screen and selected Send A and a little fader comes up in the sends view at the side. I adjust this to about -6.5 and I can still hear the voice just not as much which is what I was aiming for. However when I take the send off after recording the vocal to mix the track the vocal sound has changed the mix. Is this the right way to do a headphone mix. And do I need to do anything to the instrument tracks so they are not overpowering the vocal. Thanks. |

Re: Headphone Mix For Vocalist
You need to send the headphone mix to a separate output other than Analogue 1-2 else your just increasing the master fader. Create a new mono aux input and set the input to a free bus and the output to any of the available outputs 3-8, the sends from the tracks need to be sent to the bus you assigned.
A separate out will create a totally separate mix, you will need a send for each track you want to send to the mix. Also, clicking the pre fade send will stop the sends volume changing if you adjust the main mix faders. PS: You'll probably need a headphone amp assuming you have an 001, 002 or 003, this won't work with Mbox's.

Re: Headphone Mix For Vocalist
Hi
I am new to this too. I found www.groove3.com and www.lynda.com to have comprehensive and effective tutorials about such subjects. I found that a guy by the name of Nigel Pease put several how to videos on U-Tube he is a faculty member at Barnsley College of the UK Cheers. |

The 003 and the mbox2 pro both have an extra headphone jack and the ability to send output 3/4 to that phone output.

But he posted his question a year ago.. I sure hope he got it sorted before now.. It's always confusing when old posts are dredged up..
