I called them "HD8 Plug-in licenses" ... I should have just written "Plug-in licenses" ... I meant all plug-ins (like ReVibe etc) should be left on iLok 1 and not synchronized until the issue is fixed. Have HD8 and HEAT on iLok 2/synchronize/restart computer Last edited by unkJE; 03-18-2025 at 08:36 AM. Reason: only HD8 & HEAT on iLok 2/leave your plug-ins on iLok 1 |

I only have an iLok 3 but following these steps didn't work. Pro Tools will authorize fine while there is no trace of HEAT anywhere (neither in the mixer nor in the processing options). ILM is the latest version.
Since the HD 8.1.1 Update download does not include a separate installer for HEAT I then tried installing the version included in the Pro Tools HD 10 download. Now Pro Tools recognizes the HEAT.dpm but it's not able to activate it. |

According to: HEAT™ Option Guide Version 1.0 https://media.digidesign.com/support..._v10_67826.pdf HEAT is supported with Pro Tools HD 8.1 and higher with Pro Tools|HD hardware To update Pro Tools HD 8.1 to 8.1.1 on Mac OS X 10.6, you'll need a previous installation of either Pro Tools HD 8.0 or 8.1, then you can download the 8.1.1 update Pro Tools HD 8.0.3 Full Installer (Mac OS 10.5/10.6 for Intel) does not support PowerPC or Expansion|HD https://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppo...f890f71da0f285 Pro Tools HD 8.1.1 Updater (Mac OS 10.6) Previous Installation of Pro Tools HD 8.x Required https://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppo...3338aa23ab1905 Pro Tools HD 8.0 Full Installer (Windows XP) https://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppo...cc98b460a35db5 Pro Tools HD 8.1.1 Updater (Windows XP) Previous Installation of Pro Tools HD 8.x Required https://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppo...de172a7fcbe04b Enabling HEAT When HEAT is enabled, it is on for every audio track in the session. This is important to know because as you increase (or decrease) the number of audio tracks in the session, you also increase (or decrease) the amount of DSP resources required to keep HEAT hot. Note that HEAT does not use DSP resources on inactive audio tracks. To enable (or disable) HEAT in a session, do one of the following: • Select (or deselect) Options > Activate HEAT. – or – • Select (or deselect) the HEAT On/Off button in the Mix window in HEAT view. You can also enable the Enable HEAT in New Sessions option in the Pro Tools Preferences to have HEAT automatically enabled for all new sessions. To enable (or disable) HEAT for new sessions: 1 Choose Setup > Preferences. 2 Click the Processing tab. 3 In the DSP Management section, select (or deselect) the Enable HEAT in New Sessions option. 4 Click OK. The manual you've linked mentions the following steps to install HEAT:
To install HEAT: 1 Do one of the following: • Purchase and download the installer for your computer platform from online the Avid Store (www.avid.com). After down- loading, make sure the installer is uncom- pressed (.dmg on Mac or .ZIP on Windows). • Insert the HEAT Installer disc into your computer (included with boxed versions of HEAT). • Insert the Pro Tools Installer disc into your computer (version 8.1 or higher). 2 Locate and double-click the installer icon: • On Mac, Install HEAT.pkg – or – • On Windows, HEAT Setup.exe However the Pro Tools HD 8.1.1 Updater does not include HEAT Setup.exe |

yes. But 8.0.x did not include HEAT since HEAT was first introduced in 8.1.x

The zip file I mentioned is the exact same file you linked in post #14
Pro Tools HD 8.1.1 Updater (Windows XP) Previous Installation of Pro Tools HD 8.x Required https://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppo...de172a7fcbe04b I also have a mac, but my pro tools HD8 system is on windows. So even if the HD 8.1.1 update for mac did include the HEAT installer this would be no use. |

Please bear with me - I just want to clarify:
Did you install: Pro Tools HD 8.0 Full Installer (Windows XP) before installing: Pro Tools HD 8.1.1 Updater (Windows XP) Previous Installation of Pro Tools HD 8.x Required? |
