Default expert post advice needed

This new category opened at the right time. I desparately need a survey of opinions from experienced post people. I need to decide between a used DA88 with sync card or a new DA78. I've compared the features of both.

DA88 - 16 bit but has video i/o and 9 pin connection.

DA78 - 24 bit, no video i/o but does have word in-out-thru and time code in out. no 9 pin connection.

Price is comparable as I will need to buy a TDIF to spdif interface. i'm using an AM3 card.

I suppose my question is how limited am I without the video i/o and without the 9 pin connector. My set-up will essentially entail a video deck(such as a sony 5800 etc.), PT with the AM3 card, and the DA88 or 78. Thanks to all who have offered advice already. All insights are appreciated.
thanks
