Default help just lost files on mac!

does anyone know how to retreive lost file. they were erased some how. how can I get them back? [email protected]

First, if you have Norton Utilities, you can try UnErase. If you happened to have Norton FileSaver information updated when the files were still present, that increases the chances of retrieval with UnErase. I usually have FileSaver turned off, though. Even still, UnErase may be able to retrieve accidentally deleted files. If possible, you'll want to have another drive to retrieve the UnErase files to, rather than the original drive. (see Help in Norton under UnErase)

If you don't have Norton, (or even if you do) you might want to check out Data Rescue:

yeah, the norton program should be able to get you your lost data.

Data Rescue got back ALL my files after a drive had been acidentaly reformated! The demo download will let you scan to see what it can recover but will only let you recover one file, so you can make shure it will do what you need before you buy. It costs $39. Norton could find no recoverable files on my drive Data rescue found all 20 gigs of files and restored them.
