Default Dolby surround Tools

I just bought the plug in. The manual is relatively clear. However, I have one question: When I put a simple stereo music track, assigned to the Left and Right input of the encoder, I always get a lot of sound in the surround. Is this normal ? Is it possible to send something only in the left and right output ( and some center leak) but not in the surround ? There's a paragraph in the manual that talks about creating surround inetrior effects, by sending a bit of Left and Right information into the surround...I don't have to. I always get a lot ??
