Default 8.0.1 Updater
I've tried unsuccessfully to install the PT 8.0.1 update on numerous occasions. It seems that the updater begins to install but the progress bar doesn't move more than an eighth of an inch and stays that way without ever completing the install. Please advise.


Dual 2.7 GHz Power PC G5
Mac OS 10.5.8
Pro Tools 8

does your Mac have a power pc chip?, that might be the problem

Please Note: Pro Tools 8.0.1 software will be the last version of Pro Tools to support some retired products:
Original Mbox
Expansion|HD Chassis
Macintosh PowerPC Computers

which leads me to believe that it supports a PPC G5

Not necessarily... since 8.0.1 up to cs2 is supposed to be supported for PPC...

How are you applying the update? What version of Pro Tools are you updating from? Are you giving it more than 5 minutes to install? In some cases, the Creative Collection takes a LOT longer than expected... up to 30 minutes, even.

Try applying the update from a RAW 8.0 install, and just let it be for at least 20 minutes before canceling the installer.

I'm updating from LE 8.0. and I've left the installer on the screen for over an hour many times.

install Please explain: Try applying the update from a RAW 8.0
