Default How to record 16 tracks at once?

Can someone explain to me what all Equipment/Accessories I would need to be able to record 16 tracks at once with a Digi001 LE 6.4? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Kenny

I've got a list of just a few hardware units that will do this on this help page on my website.

Nice resource, that website. Thanks bad habit guy.

I have the Presonus LT and like it a lot. Good quality, pretty reasonable price. A friend has the Behringer and likes it, it's cheaper.

The thing with the 001 is that you only have 2 mic inputs, so for inputs 3-8 of the 001, they will either be line inputs (keyboards, etc) or you need an external mixer or mic preamps for each of those channels.

So, in order to get 16 MIC inputs, you have to buy the ADAT 8 channel device (presonus/behringer/etc) and get something to feed inputs 3-8. I use a Mackie 16 channel board (1642 VLZ Pro) with direct outputs for that and it works fine. You can also get an 8 channel rackmount mic pre device. Many choices of varying quality and price.

Then you can add a 2 ch preamp w/ spdif out and record 18 at once.
