Can not Create DAE Deck
The answer base says "check hardware is installed properly"
The PCI card is seated well, the db25 connector to the digi 001 is securely fastened, the green pwr light on the 001, as well as the phantom light, work fine. G4 dual 1.2ghz OS X 10.2.8 - digi 001 - PTLE 6.1 - all fully updated - loads PTLE - and errors, saying "Cannot Create DAE Deck" - then closes PTLE. Any further thoughts ? I've re-installed PTLE 6.0 and the 6.1 update already.

Re: Can not Create DAE Deck
I just got the same error last night after installing a new hard drive and memory. Maybe try reseating the cable going into the PCI card. Did you do any changes to your system or did this error come out of the blue?
I just found this on the digi site... "Unable to Create DAE Deck" on Pro Tools 6.0.1 If the Core Audio Driver is installed it is possible for other software on the machine to take control of the Digidesign hardware. Even Internet Explorer and the System Preferences application can grab the hardware and not allow Pro Tools to take it back on launch. Quit all other applications before attempting to launch Pro Tools. If that still doesn't allow Pro Tools to launch, try removing the "Digidesign CoreAudio.plugin" located in /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/HAL/ and restart the computer. Dan |

Re: Can not Create DAE Deck
Ok, I was freaking out yesterday because I kept getting that "Can not create DAE deck" error yesterday. I powered down the mac, reseated the cable from the Digi001 to the PCI card, I reinstalled Protools, and I tried to delete that codec but it was not there. I finally opened up the mac and took out the PCI card, blew on it like it was an old Nintendo game, and pushed it back into the PCI slot. Low and behold, when I turned Protools on, it got past the error and booted up.
I must have bumped the card when I was intalling new memory. I'm just happy that it works now. If you have not tried that yet and are still getting the error, I recommend you reseat that PCI card. Dan |

Re: Can not Create DAE Deck
Yep - to confirm what Dan said....
The card was seated properly on my system, pressed in firmly, screwed tight, I checked several times. I pulled the card, cleaned the 001 card's contacts, as well as the Mac's card slot, re seated the card, loaded pro-tools. voila, it works fine. Thanks for the replies
