My problem is when i transfer audio from my DAT to Protools via AES/EBU there are a few clicks.Any suggestion to avoid this? I use G4 733 with Mix3 Prism and 888 interfaces. Thanks in advance Kostas |

Re: AES/EBU sync problem
Are your sample rates the same on your DAT as your PT session? 44.1 or 48khz? Same bit depth?
Are you using inputs 1 & 2 on the 888? Are inputs 1 & 2 set for digital in the hardware setup-options, and is AES/EBU your digital format in the hardware setup?

Re: AES/EBU sync problem
Karen , what do you mean with
"are you using inputs 1 and 2 " Is there a difference between 1 and 2 and the others ? |

Re: AES/EBU sync problem
Yes there is a difference. On the 888/24 (which is what i have)clock is derived from the inputs 1 & 2 when you're going AES/EBU in.
I made this mistake once, and you need to have the digital connection at least starting with 1 and 2 inputs on the 888. I believe that is why you are able to select what digital signal is coming into 1 and 2 on the hardware setup dialog box. Then you have to click "options" and select "digital" on the chanels you've got receiving AES/EBU

Re: AES/EBU sync problem
It can be added however that AES/EBU inputs 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 are perfectly usable but only if the source is slaved through it's word clock input to the same master clock as protools.

Re: AES/EBU sync problem
I believe that's the case speedyk5. You have to designate one as slave and one as master. PT can derive it's clock (44.1 or 48khz) from your digital gear, or your gear (depending on your gear)can be slaved to the AES/EBU clock from PT.
I had this same problem with my guitar pod connected via AES/EBU, and I had to sort all this out, but once it's configured properly, it works. Connect your digital devices to inpputs 1 & 2 of the 888, and select your setups accordingly in the hardware setup dialog.
