Default Does 2021.3 overwrite the previous version?

Can 2021.3 be installed alongside 2020.12 or will it overwrite it? Thanks.

All PT updates will overwrite... always.

Rename the old one first, then install.

Most Windoze users have better success uninstalling the old version first.

2021.3 is the first Windows version that forces you to uninstall a previous version first when you run the installer. I can't recall this happening before, but I could be wrong.

That’s a bit different though. That was by design to allow the RTAS/TDM to AAX transition.

If you want to keep the previous version, just rename it before doing the install.

Exactly what I did because I'm running an 'unsupported' operating system - OSX 10.13.6 Actually I have three versions of PT on this machine: 2019.6, 2020.12 and 2021.3 and they all coexist just fine (so far).

Yep. Mentioned that at the start of the thread. Hopefully the OP read one of our responses. Hehe...
