Avid's Pro Subharmonic Not Nulling

Hi all,

Does anyone knows what settings in Pro Subharmonic causes it not to null?

I've got a track that i recorded twice with the same settings, flipped the polarity on one of the track and it does not null!

Hi, welcome to the community.

Unless you recorded a perfectly stable sine wave, any kind of modulation before the plugin causes it to not null.

What version, OS, PT version, dsp or not, etc?

Subharmonic has been bugged for a while generating different outputs each time you press play. I'm not sure it's fixed. Does it sound the same but just doesn't null or is there a (huge) level difference?

Yeah, I've been bitten by this before. If I use it, I generally use it for something specific, and print it right away.

That is interesting, I've just tried it with sine wave track and it does indeed null. Does not work well on any instrument - tried on drums/bass/keys

That's a great thread! thanks.

Just A/B-ing them, I can't really tell much of a level difference, but when I invert the polarity of one of them, there seems to be some phase cancellation.

I'm using PT 2022.12, same as the plugin. Using Monterey V12.6.3. Plugins are running natively.

Modulation (f.ex reverb) by definition does not null if you compare two different prints.

Yeah, I don't know that anything is broken, it's just the nature of chaotic processing where each time there's a different result, perhaps undetectable by the ears. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you're doing something that requires bit-accurate repetition.

I really like the sound of it but ever since the output level bug ^^ I tend to just print it as I go.
