However, I also read MIDI CC messages (like CC10 for panning) and can be mapped to Pro Tools parameters through available MIDI mapping tools or plugins, is that true?

Any ideas?
You can find the old Digidesign/AVID/JlCooper panner on ebay for reasonable cost. It's touch sensitive (unlike the Platane I think) and works and is built like a tank.

It's all simple midi CC: values. Breath control mainly but also others. Problem is it needs to show up under peripherals.

The Platane works fine (minus the touch sensitivity to go into write I think).

Only downside of all of them, they don't follow track attention under Eucon.

I would like to see Avid include Panners on all their Control surfaces as an add on purchase. I would be willing to buy them at the same price as they offer on the S6.
interesting. so that's the reason why there are only few separate controllers, and that are so overpriced. maybe, in the rest of the world nobody is actually thinking about making them. is there any hope things will change?

many people suggested this: https://www.platane.us/index.php/pro...roller/js.html

I can't find any review on yt that isn't from the company that made it. do you think it's a scam, considering what has been said before?

I have indeed heard the lack of modern panners in the market is due to Harrison owning the patent, which is still infuriating. It's like if one company held the patent to motorized faders, or brakes on a car. It's just bad for the industry as a whole.

I would love a dual-joystick panner add-on that would work with EUCON. I've tried various iPads and S6 screen modules for touchscreen panning but that never really did it for me, so I still use a mouse for panning and every time I do I wish I had proper tactile joysticks. Endless frustration!

Harrison's patent must surely have run its course by now? It was filed way back in the year 2000!

I wonder if we are just experiencing the knock-on effect of it in terms of parts availability? It doesn't seem like there are many off-the-shelf motorised joystick components out there that would be suitable for audio work.

Not a scam. I know a few people who have it.

damn. still a bit pricey.

thanks for the platane one as well. I think it's probably the cheapest solution

For sure but it won't have the prev/next track buttons and none of the other ones but prev/next and right channel buttons are really the only ones you need! If you plan on buying two of them keep in mind that PT will still not support panning 2 legs of a stereo track with them at the same time but that's a general limitation of PT not an issue of the midi-based ones per se.

thanks for the info. not a problem, the important thing is that I can pan sounds without using the mouse
