Pro Tools not seeing Carbon
After starting up my mac, when I open Pro Tools it asks me to select a driver but the carbon is missing from the list.
The system can see all of the the carbon drivers. I then Re-install the carbon central app and it 'sees' the carbon is an expansion unit. I then uninstall carbon central and Pro Tools can then see carbon driver until the next restart. I've tried trashing the preferences but this has not helped Can someone help please? Re: Pro Tools not seeing Carbon
You have to disable Your network-audio in Audio-Midi-Setup (Utillity).

Re: Pro Tools not seeing Carbon
I think you should use Avid Carbon central only if you are owner of additional Pre devices and directly use the unit with Mac OS if you have not expansions (Carbon pre). For use it without Carbon Central, you need to activate the device check/uncheck option with the route AUDIO/MIDI setup/Window/network devices into Mac OS and for ACC, uncheck that option (untick the box).

Re: Pro Tools not seeing Carbon
I don't have any carbon pre units, just a single carbon interface so I've uninstalled carbon central.
Pro Tools Carbon is checked in the audio midi setup>network devices browser. and the avid light flashes when I click the 'identify button. The System can always see both the carbon reserved and carbon sytem drivers so the issue appears to be with Pro Tools. I am still getting the same problems even after trashing the preferences. Also, the carbon will disconnect from Pro Tools pear after leaving it open and unused for a while I am starting to look at other audio interface options as this situation continues to be unworkable. |

Re: Pro Tools not seeing Carbon
Perhaps try a factory reset? Hold the meter button down in the middle of the front panel for 10 seconds while powering it up. Carbon will disconnect here too if my system goes to sleep - following Avid’s recommendations for system settings fixed it.

I created a case for you ( 04859068) and assigned it to the Pro Tools / Carbon team. They will be in touch shortly to help you. In the meantime I would: Check that 2023.9 is installed on your iLok etc. also check the PT splash screen to see what it says exactly and make sure its not intro launching. Also, did you get the "Carbon firmware has to update" window when you first tried to launch it ? I believe that if you want to use Carbon Central (which is implied by your post "Carbon software is open and shows the Carbon is online"), then you need to deselect Carbon from Audio Midi Setup. One or the other (Carbon Central OR AMS), but not both. Then...... 1. Shut down carbon and shut down computer 2. Reboot computer 3. Turn on carbon 4. Do you see the NET light illuminated on your carbon? 5. Launch AMS and hit cmd 3. So you see your carbon here? Uncheck it so it’s not avail to core. 6. Launch carbon central - does your carbon show here? Check firmware on the unit…. Marianna

Re: Pro Tools not seeing Carbon
Thanks I tried the factory reset but no change. I'll look again at the recommendations for system settings

Also you want to make sure you are using the correct firmware for the Ventura 13.6.1 ? .. I am still on Ventura 13.6.1 and it finds Carbon and runs fine no drop outs (I am on PT 2023.12 don't remeber I I used 2023.3 ? I would first reset the the firmware back to the original that your Carbon shipped with ( there is a section in the manual that details the steps) Once Carbon is reset to original firmware Shut it down then start Carbon and then launch PT and it should install the firmware for Ventura Also check Mac Sounds and select Carbon (myself I don't use "Carbon Reserved for PT" I just the regular Carbon so I can also run Studio One) And Last--- Have you tried Holding down the (N) key while launching PT that should force PT to ask which audio device you want to use and you can select Carbon from within PT
