Makin' Sausage Music moved this HD driver problem over to https://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=429444

It's better then so we can stay focused on specific issues in that thread.

You REBEL! I'm not so rebellious as I get older. I'm still cruising comfortably on Ventura and 2023.12.1. I'll probably make the move to Sonoma before the end of the year. I prefer to run at least a year behind on macOSes.

Likely, if/when I upgrade from my current 2019 MBP i7, I'll feel differently.

I also installed Sequoia on one of my systems (with plenty of fallback options in case of problems) and it has been smooth as silk.
But yeah, as always, don't do this mid project or without a restore strategy.

Sequoia feels like a smooth and uneventful move from Sonoma, in my experience, but when it comes to production there's just too much *potential* for something to not work properly. I still have some older hardware that's not going anywhere anytime soon and I'm worried about it not being recognized one day.

25 years worth of PT sessions with Echo farm on them all. I've been playing with a bunch of different delays to replace. All cool - amazing on their own. In the mix Echo Farm is just right - sits the best. Just gotta deal with it and hone my settings. Enjoying Valhalla delay, H-delay, Echo Boy (used a bunch but doesn't sit right for me ..) - I do like the features and sound of Slapper - its not cheap, but sits well.

Not the thread for that. But with Sequoia now officially released and the comments (From Janne here) I am tempted. Please talk me out of it! Seems incremental only

Another happy 14.7er here but still see a huge delay after PT app launches from dock, then a few beach ball spins before ever seeing the version screen.
I did all the Avid recommended Sonoma tweaks, but has anyone tried these? https://github.com/sickcodes/osx-optimizer

I’m building a new web-less machine to last the next decade+ and hope to stabilize PT to the point of getting an image set in stone with Carbon Copy Cloner. It's an M2 Air so I'm also trying to see what I can get away with. My old 2011 MBP just passed away (running Yosemite/PT 12 perfectly) and it was tweaked to the moon, even had iTunes removed from the root level. Will I have to do the same thing for Apple Music? I recently saw this and it made me go hmmmmm: https://github.com/tombonez/noTunes

Hmmmm - maybe a Sonoma 14.7 issue:

I've just had random hangs when committing tracks with various plugins (no common plugin seems to be causing it).

Committing tracks sometimes (not always, but maybe every third time) hangs at "Optimising Files", needing a force quit.

Never had this before updating to Sonoma 14.7 (from 14.6.1).

Freezing seems fine.

...checked other threads and this seems to solve it:

1. Freeze any instrument track before committing (eg) an audio track with some plugins on
2. Select "Do Nothing" to the committed tracks when committing
3. Hide 'n' make inactive after committing.

Works so far...
