orig MBox 1 with Mac Book Pro (Ventura)
My grandson just bought a new Macbook Pro with Ventura 13.5 I have an orig Mbox 1 that I thought in 2006 that he could use to start out with, since it's an all in one box. Has anyone got this combination to work? What will I need to download and install? Drivers, software, etc.. Thanks

Re: orig MBox 1 with Mac Book Pro (Ventura)
It will not work. You would need Pro Tools 8 LE, which only runs on PPC systems.

Ok... I do have the orig Mac 6.9 LE software for MAC OS X. Can't I download the final version of the MAC LE software for this box? I was going to try using the Ploytec audio driver. What do you think? As an registered buyer I should be able to download the last version of software that was released. Thanks

Last PPC systems were sold in 2005. You need PPC system to run those ancient versions. Will not work on your new computer.

Ok. My orig receipt is dated 4/17/06. I see there are a few others that were able to get it to work. I'll keep checking. Thanks.

Re: orig MBox 1 with Mac Book Pro (Ventura)
You will probably get comments about how crazy it is to try to use something that old.
I'll refrain because I don't mind using old things that still work - HOWEVER the original MBOX is truly not worth the hassle. 1) it's just not great at anything it does 2) As pointed out it needs an ancient version of PT which will never run on modern Macs 3) If you manage to get the Ploytec driver working you still have to get a modern version of PT So with that, you're better off avoiding the hassle and picking up literally any modern USB 2X2 interface. Behringer would be an improvement. I'm positive you could find several options under $100 that will be way more useful.

Back in the day, DigiDesign sold major and minor upgrades. Going from PT 6.9 LE to PT 8.x LE would require major upgrade, which you obviously cannot buy any longer. Only free updates were 6.9.x level updates.
