Default OSX Midi Controller Not Seen on Input

I Have a Mac Mini With my Yamaha Motif 6 Connected trough USB. (i am using an Mbox 2) I Have it the Midi Setup but Cant get it to record in protools. I have it on my input list and have the track in record just cant get it to receive the midi data. I have tried it both on Midi Tracks and Instrument Tracks. Any Ideas? Thanks!

Are you using the MIDI I/O on the Mbox 2? Cable routing, Motif Out to Mbox In and Motif In to Mbox Out? What about Mac's Audio MIDI Setup? Is this setup?

I am not using any Midi Cables to connect to the Mbox 2. I pluged straight from the Motifs Usb out to the Mini. the Audio Midi Setup Recognizes it and automatically patched it in and out of the Mbox... Do I need to just get standard MIDI Cables and hook it up that way through the Mbox instead of using the Motifs built in USB Midi Interface? I had luck on the PC Side of things doing it throught the USB. Thanks for any help

Are you able to play a Virtual Instrument like Expand with the Motif 6? Lets say, via an Instrument track?
