Urge you to create a case so support can look at it and see what might be wrong.

Login to your Avid Account at account.avid.com and select under My Support >Access the Support Center (Portal)

MDGenerato and Marianna, great to see Avid so involved on the DUC.

After some more work, I suspect at least some of the issues are pilot error. I'm going to reinstall 2023.12 and do some more testing and will report back. No need for a support case just yet.

I'm on Windows 10, PT Studio. I haven't had any issue deleting a video track and importing a new one in either 2023.6 or 2023.12.

The blank video track I mentioned in a previous post was indeed pilot error.

However, in 2023.12 I have had the problem of the video window size not being remembered, something like this thread.

Work flow in 2023.6:

I have a Template for reading to video with Window Configurations for placing Markers, proofing, video size and for my 15.6 inch laptop which I use in my booth to remote control my desktop computer, control Pro Tools, and, of course, see the video and its timecode. When I create a session from my Template and import a video, the video window is the correct size and in the correct place. When I connect remotely to my laptop and change to the "Laptop Remote" Window Configuration my video window changes to the correct size and position for my laptop screen. When I disconnect the laptop and go back to my desktop, and its 29 inch 21:9 screen, I just have to change to the "Video Size" Window Configuration and the video window goes back to the correct size and position for my desktop screen.

In 2023.12, while initially all seems good when creating a session from my Template, once I've connected to my laptop, used "Laptop Remote" and then gone back to my desktop, no Windows Configuration will get the video window back to the correct size and position it originally started in.

Since there's nothing in 2023.12 that I can't live without, I'll stay at 2023.6 and keep checking any future updates.

Hi, I am having the same issue.
  • I don't have the option to create a blank Video track when using the Create Track menu
  • When I try to import a video through the Import menu as an mp4 I get a blank video preview window and a video track was created but I see no data on either the audio or video track. After some research it seemed I had to make the video a .mov file
  • Did that using Quicktime but when trying to import through the Import menu I get the message that only PT Ultimate supports HEVC or H.264 format.

Sorry if I'm being a bit of a noob with video files in ProTools.... any help would be appreciated.

Convert to DNXHD 36

Import into Pro Tools.
