Any CPR hacks for "Lost Communication with Audio Interface"?

Is this with a new cable or the same one you started with? In my own case, I had the factory cable and it had never been moved or repatched before it failed. A replacement form cablestogo.com solved it and that cable went for years until I moved to HD/Native. At this point, its time for you to include COMPLETE details about the entire setup and computer so we don't have to guess and take pot shots in the dark

One thing I would do(assuming a new FW cable): shut everything down, disconnect power and reseat the firewire card in the computer(if it is a separate card). I have other ideas, but without knowing everything about the setup, its a waste of time

This was with the cable I started out with. New cable arrives tomorrow so I'll let you know how that goes. On balance though things are much better since I've put the old cable into the second 1394 port on the 003. Only craps out once per day vs 4-5 times.

My setup is iMac 27" 2017 3.5 Ghz, 64Gb Ram, OSX 13.3.1. Pro Tools 2023.6.0. The firewire 400-800 goes into a Thunderbolt 2 adapter into a Thunderbolt 3 and into an OWC Dock Thunderbolt 3.

002/003 have two sore spots. This 6-pin firewire is one of them and another one is the infamous power harness issue. Both are contact issues fixable without sending the unit to service, but firewire problem is more problematic because faulty cable can really fry the connector module if younare unlucky. With that said yours is not yet fried, because the unit is working "with only one crapout per day".

Just wanted to say that I've had the new cable in place for a week now. I've been lighting up the house like a Christmas tree switching lights on and off and the 003 has held steady as a rock. Even on heavy sessions. Thanks so much for all advice. Who knew changing a cable could also.... change a life....
