Default getting a Snes emulator to synch to the 002...

I'm trying to get this Super nintendo emulator to work on my computer I record on but I am getting no sound or music from the game..When I open up the emulator, it says "unable to open direct sound", and something like "THis is usually caused by not having direct x installed"...If anyone can help, let me know

THank you

-Brian
