Increase Buffer Size Error Message
I have been trying to use Pro Tools on my PC laptop. I have been getting the error: Increase Buffer size" (or buffer capacity?). Recording or playback is quickly haulted and I am unable to get any kind of work done on the program because of that. When I've tryed to correct the matter by increasing the buffer size, I am once again haulted and told that I need to Reduce DH buffer size (i think that was the phrase but I'm going from memory here - but I know it had the words buffer size and reduce/increase).
I have previously had this sort of problem on a Mac Ibook. At that time, it was corrected by putting more ram into the system. I put alot of RAM in this current laptop - just over to Gigs- the problem still continues to occur. So, I don't know what the problem could be. This is preventing me from getting the recording done that I need to complete so, can anyone please help me resolve this problem? Thanks! Re: Increase Buffer Size Error Message
We need more information than what you are giving us in order to help you. Could you please post a SiSoft Sandra report as instructed at the end of the General Troubleshooting thread? (also, some of the suggestions in that thread might actually solve your problem, so it is worth a read).

Re: Increase Buffer Size Error Message
Anyone else wanna take a stab at this question?
I'd appreciate it if someone would help me trouble shoot. I gave much of the system info (pro tools 6.9, Windows XP, 2 gigs ram, 1 gig harddrive, Inspiron 1501 laptop computer, Mbox hardware, etc) so If someone would be kind enough to help me trouble shoot, I'd greatly appreciate it. If there's one or 2 bits of info that your missing here that would help you figure out how to trouble shoot better, please let me know specifically what the info you're missing. I have a feeling this can be easily resolved. Thanks!

Re: Increase Buffer Size Error Message
OK, yeah. Since you seem to have glossed over both suggestions already given, I'm going to help you out with a direct link and specific instructions for what we need, OK?
That is the information that we need. (and that I already asked you for). It will most likely turn out that Digidesign is correct, and your system is not compatible, but we cannot tell you for certain until you post that information. OK?

Thankyou for that. Now the instruction makes sense. I got the program and ran it. I hope the program will work. I went to the trouble of sending back my VISTA computer in exchange for XP because as far as I knew, XP is thought to work with protools as Vista is still not capable. Re: Increase Buffer Size Error Message
Just to clarify a bit more, the exact Error message I get is this:
" Audio Processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks. If this occurs often, reducing the "HW Buffer Size" in the Play Back Engine may prevent the problem " When I reduce said "HW Buffer size" the same problem occurs Now, its weird being that I was using pro tools with no problem for a good half hour or so before I started getting cut short and seeing that error message. thankyou

Re: Increase Buffer Size Error Message
Do you only have 1 Hard drive? You should have 2 seperate PHYSICAL hard drives, not just partitioned, 1 for system and 1 for audio. This coud be the problem.
