Default Creating An On Beat Echo To Vocals

Hi, all. Has anyone ever created an echo effect to a vocal? I am trying to add one to a vocal track and I want it to repeat a certain number of times on beat. How can I do this? Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to assist a fellow musician.

Is the session set to the proper tempo?? Most delays you can slave to the session tempo and its pretty basic from there

Yes. The tempo is the same as the session tempo. I am new at trying to create an echo. I assume, I should use a delay plugin. I want the last line of the lyric to echo and fade out as it echoes, but not sure how to do that. Getting an echo while a line is being sung is easy, but now to get the last word of a lyric to echo continuously, that's my challenge at the moment.

I've done it where I copy and paste that word to the grid as many times as I want and perform a slope on the volume.

The "proper" way would be to set up a standard FX Send and Return and then automate the send to only send to the Delay for that word.

Same as shown here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3K33qXYz4g

Hope this helps.

The problem with this is that you're wasting voices (might not be an issue but if your session is on the edge it could be) plus no other tracks can access the delay either. It's less efficient.

If this involves buses, all my buses are noted as n/a (ie. not available). Since I am new to buses, I am not sure why I don't have any available buses. I have not used them at all in my session. Is there something I have to do to make buses available to me? Or, does it have something to do with the device I'm using? Thanks.

Open your I/O setup window, click on Busses and hit Default.

Check out this thread for a similar discussion.

Go to Setup > I/O... and click the Bus tab (at the top), then click New Path (to manually create Busses) or Default (to reset all the Busses).
