002 - No playback problem

Hello friends,

I am working on a mix and have come into a strange problem. When I hit play, whether the space bar or 002's button, I have suddenly started getting no playback. Instead, the transport's "Stop" button is lit solid and the "Play" button is flashing.

It is a quite large session and I "save as" at each stage of the mixes, so I am able to go back. The mixes just prior to this one have a delay of about 5 seconds when I hit the "play," but the "stop" is not illuminated. When I go to the original tracking files, there is no delay at all after pressing "Play" - the music starts right away.

Any thoughts?

It sounds like you're stuck in record pause mode. You can tell if you see the words "record pause" in red flashing at the bottom left. I got stuck in this recently and had to quit pro tools and restart, which did clear it up.

Mmmmmm...

thanks for the suggestion, Inaam, but no 'record pause.'

Finally, and I don't know why I didn't try this earlier, I changed the start position. For some reason, on 2/4/000 it won't play. Very strange, but it seems I've found a workaround.

You should probably save a session copy, and to be safe, open the copy and consolidate all the audio tracks in case you have a corrupted session. If it completely goes south, you can create a new session and import all the audio to rebuild your mix.

Yeah I get that too...002r with 10.4.9 and PT7.3
What happens for me is...
* Hit Play
* Play and Stop buttons flash while a green "Pause" is displayed at the bottom of the window.
* Audio commences
* Timeline does not advance, and pause continues to be displayed for 2 bars
* Finally, the GUI gets going into play mode, but the timeline is 2 bars behind the audio.

Restarting ProTools seems to get out of the problem.
Its a wierd one. I tried clicking all the relevant buttons, like the wait for midi and the 2 bar count in etc, but nothing fixes it except a restart.
