Default sonic quality difference bet/ a.pack and h-ware?

hi all,

i am finishing a theathrical short that will be dolby printmastered for 35MM. cool with that. for the DVD, we will have to create a separate AC3 file than that on the MOD. i planned to use a.pack. however, this is a very important film to us and we want everything to be as good as possible. is there a SONIC difference between using a.pack encoding and dolby, (or other) hardware boxes? we are using hardware encoding for the visuals. so, we would be wiling to pay the price of having someone encode the audio this way. or is it merely an authoring procedure difference?

There is a difference. We have both a.pack and Dolby Digital. We try to run as much as possible through the Dolby Digital. As primarily an authoring studio, it's one of the main reasons we have Pro Tools. I am around all this week and weekend and would be happy to Dolby encode your project. Feel free to contact me.
