What's the weak link of the 002? Pres, converters?

I'm looking to get better sound out of my 002 and am wondering what you would recommend upgrading first: pres, converters, something else?

Specific brand suggestions are most welcome too.

What is your budget?

From what I gather, the converters and pres are neither weak, nor amazing. Just decent consumer level gear.

With an unlimited budget, you'd be looking at $2,000 or so for a Stereo Pre, $1,500 - $3,000 for A/D and D/A conversion and perhaps a clock unit for another $1,500. There are many threads on the DUC that will give you a lot of names of particular types of gear.
