I'm not sure you are an "overwhelming majority". I really like the new interface, all the way around. The folks on this thread are the ones that don't like it, and that's fine, but don't assume that those of us that haven't chimed in on this thread agree with you.

I really like PT8, even running on my OLD G5.

I ran PT8 with a C24 for a week at a studio I was working at with no issues at all last week. I booted the CPU (a G5) from a FW400 disk that I'd built with PT and my plugs and everything at home.

Regarding the fact that the complainers are the only voice heard:

Read this thread again. Plenty of people like the new GUI. I'm not one of them.

I've yet to find one thing "graphically" that I prefer.

I know one thing with 100% certainty. If Digi hadn't changed the GUI to darker less manageable colors, there would NOT be a 20 page thread (plus the other one) complaining that they wish it was DARKER and less customizable.

I also didn't notice a performance hit using a Dual 2.0 Mac.

Here it also runs nice on 2.0 Dual G5, only things that are weird performance-wise is the fact its sluggish while dragging windows bigger (mix window for example) Also the scrolling with mighty mouse that I use to navigate horizontally on timeline jumped around strangely. I had to go to the pref. panel mouse preferences and put scrolling speed to the minimum. Now it's ok in PT but horribly slow in other programs.

Thumbs down Re: Protools 8 New look, old look! Discussion

I agree the look is to dark. We should have control of it.

The layout looks like to much Microsoft Influence.

What's weird is that they did give us more control over it with all the new sliders but for some reason it still is less possible to make it work. At least for me.

Colors was (or is) a huge part of how I manage a session. Different colors for different things. It feels like my options are limited to dark maroon, dark blue or dark green.
