Default HW device is at a different sample rate from the open session

When I open my Pro Tools session I get a error message saying "the HW device is at a different sample rate from the open session". I am running PT9 on iMac (2010), Mbox2 feeding TC Electronic BMC (monitor controller) via SPDIF. Session sample rate is 48 kHz. I can't change sample rate from Mbox2 or BMC-2. BMC-2 is showing that the sample rate is correct 48 kHz.

I just noticed from Session Setup window that the System Delay is 16632 samples, sounds high eh? I have to use Video Sync Offset of 32 qf and audio is not playing sync with the waveform. I am also having CPU overloads with my modest session.

Any guesses what might be wrong? I have done all the usual preferences trashing.

I'm assuming you have the Mbox and BMC connected to each other via s/pdif, not daisy chained connected to computer motherboard s/pdif. (I had to ask..you'd be surprised).
One device has to be the master and one/or more the slave/s so in Setup>Hardware one device has to have clock set to internal (master) and the other to External (Slave). Click on ADAT radio button.

If that doesn't work you may want to consider changing your handle...bad jitter might be a bad omen.

Ok, I discovered what was causing that huge system delay. It was GRM Evolution plug-in that on one track on bypass. Deactivated it and had zero problems today.
