Default Please restore my sanity

Hello-
I use LE 6.1.2, 1 gig iMac, 002r.

Concerning a bounce to disk. I thought that the length of the mixdown, if no selections were made, would be the length of the longest region in the edit window. I have a song that is about 5 minutes long, and that length is reflected in the region lengths. When I do a mix, I have a bunch of silence after the song is done.

When I hit the "go to end" button in the transport window, the playback marker always goes to a point at about 6:43, and I can't change it, no matter what try. This represents the length of the mixdown I get with all of the silence.

What the hell!!!!!!

I surely hope this is a matter of ignorance on my part that I can fix with a hint from a DUC member. WHY CAN"T I MOVE THE FREAKING "END".

And while I'm at it, WHERE'S THE CONFOUNDED BRIDGE!!!!

you probably have a single edit point on waveform or pan view away along at 6:43.

you have to find it & delete it:-

1. Activate the All group.

2. change the edit window view to waveform then pan etc etc until oyu find the stray edit point along at the end somewhere.

3. now delete the stray edit point.

4. now double click on the magnifying glass (this should so the whole session length as pro tools sees it).

when you bounce to disc now it should end with the end of the last region.

hope this sorts you out...

It is also posible that you have a stray automation data, Pro Tools inadvertantly creates this data from time to time. Or it is possibly left over from some atomation you did yourself. Search in all possible automation playlists delete this data and you should be on your way.

Yes!!!

I found that a midi region extended much farther than the other regions, and had some automation data on it, for what reason I can't imagine. Not having the playlist view set to show regions, I didn't see it.

Thanks for the tips, now I've learned another lesson---
