BF76 Still Around?
I just opened an old session that used BF76. BF76 is no longer available on my rig. Is it still a plug in included with PT?
I'm just wondering if i should do a reinstall as I may have accidently deleted it at some point. Let me know. |

Re: BF76 Still Around?
BF-76 is still included but you have to separately install (from Avid Link or from your My Products section in the Pro Tools area -- scroll down and you'll find plugin installers)
I'm also not sure if they'll link up correctly with old sessions as I think the name changed (BF76 to BF-76). This happened with the move to 64Bit AAX plugins only. (And some bomb factory plugins were left in the dust -- but not BF76)

Re: BF76 Still Around?
The name change to BF-76 but what exact Pro Tools version and platform: PC or Mac are we talking about here?
BF-76 is included in the core plugin in all recent versions of Pro Tools. If missing on from the Plugin Folder on Macs it will be automagically reinstalled when Pro Tools starts up. On Windows there have been cases where the core plugins do not install correctly. Unsure why, but you can just rerun the installer and it should reinstall. |

Re: BF76 Still Around?
OK but was the plugin file actually in your plugin folder? i.e. does C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avid\Audio\Plug-Ins\BF76.aaxplugin exist? If so you likely have a different problem (if so try just trashing prefs and starting Pro Tools before doing a reinstall.).
On Windows the core plugins, which include BF-76, are in a separate hidden installer "Avid Effects Setup.exe". If you unzip the installer you'll find that at INSTALLER_FOLDER\Pro Tools\ISSetupPrerequisites\Avid Effects\Avid Effects Setup.exe. You have to have show hidden files enabled to see this. You can try running that installer and all it will ever do is install the core plugins. So just less stuff to risk than the full installer (which should be OK, but...). You can also try running it and just choosing to repairing the BF76 install etc. It might also be that if there are failures they are clearer by running that installer (and if things seem to fail look in the Windows event log as well). Enough people on Windows have had odd problem where some plugins don't get installed that I suspect something fails silently during install. |

Re: BF76 Still Around?
No, it wasn't in the plug-in folder. So, a reinstall solved the problem.
Thanks again |

Re: BF76 Still Around?
Cool! There be drunken gnomes hiding somewhere in the Windows installer.
