I'm considering purchasing either Soundminer HD or V4. I've had a 30 demo for both and am still undecided. I'm leaning toward V4 as I am on a Mac and have been using V4 for quite some time. HD had some interesting new features but it did lose my FX indexing at one point. V4 is probably the safer bet by being the more established line.
I would like to hear from anyone using either or both. Thanks!!! |

Soundminer v4.3 is the bomb. I looked at the feature list for HD, and decided to stay put with SM v4. Of course, everyone's needs are different.

If you're at all interested we recently went from four studios to two, leaving us with two extra full Soundminer v4 Pro licenses. I'd be happy to offer a good price and transfer the iLok asset and registration.

I started with miniminer.
I use SM pro at work. I demoed HD. There were alot of things that HD didn't do that Pro does. Maybe it was just different in operation, but it felt a bit uncomfortable to me. SO I upgraded to SM 4. But SM 4 doesn't allow handles, which I can't deal with so a week later I upgraded to SMpro. I've never looked back. As well, connecting to a SM server, SMpro is your only option really if you are working with studios that have networked libraries. I'm not sure what the point of HD was other than another options for editors that SMpro. But working in SMpro was much easier than it was in HD, personally |

Basically V4Pro is a superb Metadata Editor where HD is not.
I am thinking to purchase a HD license to catalog REX files though. |
