Need a good string section...
I've seen these CD-ROMs advertised that are supposed to be the most realistic sounding strings ever or something. Do these CD-ROMs ever live up to their claims. I need some realistic sounding strings for a project that I'm working on and the JV-1080 and the Trinity just aren't going to cut it.
Anyone? |

The Miroslav library is very nice, but expensive.

I still don't understand how these things work though. Do you hook them up to your sampler or something? A friend of mine was telling me that he could transfer the contents of the CD-ROMs to ZIP (which sounds HIGHLY unlikely). Guess I'll have to invest in a CD-ROM drive for my MPC. Bastiaan - Samples of their samples, eh? I'm interested.... |

Re: Need a good string section...
Why not just hire a few string players from a local college or heaven forbid, some professional players? Cheaper AND more realistic than the sampled variety:)

Re: Need a good string section...
The Garritan strins are pretty awesome. There is a GIGa version for $999(16-cd), and a 3-cd AKAI version for $299.

Re: Need a good string section...
ya know, I thought about that and for me it wouldn't be worth the hassle of having to deal with a whole bunch of other people (I don't like just bringin ANYBODY in my house). Plus, I'm not confident enough in my recording space to try something like that yet.

Re: Need a good string section...
Virtuoso sounds amazing.
Miroslav and Synclavier are sounds warmer and fits meny different type of music. It is really musical. Advanced Orchestra is a little bit too bright to me. Roland,Korg Synth? Forget about. (Roland sounds not bad though) OT Real session is of course always sounds great. But you have to pay from $250 to $20000......... I still can't recover from the shock that the beauty of over tone of string section composed and conducted by Enn.. Morico.. in studio in Italy. That was something very differrent from all other sessions I did in LA (like 4,8,16 or 60P at Todd AO studio...etc.) I really envy you guys who live in Europe. |

Re: Need a good string section...
Just curious as to what makes these Sound Libraries so different from the synths that we all know and love...
