Central Station for C24
Is the Prosonus Central station any good. I can't stand the monitoring section qauilty of the C24. it is hard to believe that the central station for $500 can be that much better. The advocate and Dangerous monitor are so dam expensive. I don't care about the bells and whistles. Just sound quailty. I want to hear my mix the way it is supposed to be hear.
let me know some recomendations and people who have purchased or are using these in their studios instead of the C24 monitoring section thanks |

Re: Central Station for C24
You're right, it really does not sound good at all...
Check out the SPL 2381, it's very clean and has a couple of very useful features |

Re: Central Station for C24
I'm just about to buy a C24 so excuse my lack of knowledge.
Can you explain the bad monitoring of the C24 you're talking about. Thanks for your time.

Re: Central Station for C24
The Central Station is a great unit and probably is the best at that price point. The remote is also cool but adds $150 to the price.

Re: Central Station for C24
I've owned my C24 for almost two years now. A couple of months ago I started getting distortion and clipping in my control room monitors. After a couple of days of troubleshooting, I tracked the problem to the monitor section of my C24. To test my rig, I bypassed the C24 altogether and ran my stereo mix directly out of my 888s and into a Presonus HP4 headphone amp, then ran the "monitor section" of the presonus into my monitors. The difference in sound was unbelievable. Crisper, better definition, and I noticed a marked increase in the overall volume coming out of my monitors. I can't explain it, but my monitors clip at a much lower volume when running out the C24. Just my two cents, but try this test on your own system...you'll be amazed.

Re: Central Station for C24
I just bought a Control|24 too and if this is the case...I'm very very disappointed in Digidesign. Digidesign, this is pathetic. I've heard this from far too many people to respect Digidesign anymore. Pathetic.
Anyway, I have a Central Station and I'm now reconsidering using it as the primary monitor controller. That would be fine with me, but I see that I would lose a very important feature for me - the listen back input. Is there any possible way to still use the listen back controls and route the audio into the Central Station?? |

Re: Central Station for C24
Spicyitaliano, I, too, think it's almost unbelievable that Digi can't build a decent analog monitor section. Should be Mixer Design 101 project. Anyway, I don't have a direct answer to your question since I haven't really thought about it before, but what I did, at least for now, is set up an Aux. Input in my templates and have it's input set to a room mic for listening. Just have to remember to shut it off when tracking live instruments in the room or mixing.
